His eyes were still locked on her face. \u201cThey\u2019ll think she doesn\u2019t trust her own work.\u201d<\/p>\n Even though she knew his words were true, Emily turned to face him for the first time and spoke coolly but calmly, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of her anger. \u201cHow about housewives? How about young nervous men, who don\u2019t want to be intimidated by such beautiful and obviously strong women?\u201d She gestured to where Phoenix and Josephina were sitting. \u201cHow about people like me?\u201d<\/p>\n He snorted. \u201cYou want a tattoo? And mess up your pretty skin? What will mummy think?\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cMy mother is dead,\u201d she snapped, finally losing her careful control. \u201cAs is my father.
